JOHNSON was a college football player for the University of MIAMI, where he won a national championship on the 1991 MIAMI Hurricans team . JOHNSON began his training for a carrier in professional wrestler , including his grandfather and father ROCKY JOHNSON from where he inherited Canadian Citizenship in 2009 .

Then , Rock took admission in MIAMI university on the basis of scholarship . He used to play defensive tackle position and also he was a member of NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM . He aslo played for CANADIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE but due to Injury he can't able to play for them and he was replaced by FUTURE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE (NFL ) STAR WARREN SAPP .

ROCK decided to leave his football career and decided to make career in wrestling and he took training from his father named Rocky Johnson . In 1996 , he signed contract with WWF . On 4 - November , 1996 he did his first professional debut on Monday Night in RAW episode . At first , he came in RAW with his ring name ROCKY MAIVIA which was the combination of his father's and grandfather's ring's name .

He played his first match on 17 - November , 1996 in survivor series where he eliminate CRUSH and GOLDUST .

They first met in 2006 while Johnson was filming " The Game Plan " , Promoting rumors he left his marriage for Hashian . Their first child , a daughter , was born in 2015 .
